I am so happy to be the new Music Director at St. Francis De Sales and St. Michael the Archangel and would like to take this opportunity to tell you a bit about myself.
I am a native of Louisville, Kentucky, where I have been involved in music, especially church music, all my life. I graduated from the Youth Performing Arts High School, received my Bachelor of Music Education from Morehead State University and my Masters in Orchestral Conducting from Eastern Kentucky University. In addition, I am a certified K-12 teacher in Michigan; instrumental with vocal endorsement, with 15 plus years teaching in Catholic and Public Schools.
I have served the last 20+ years as Music Director for Catholic Churches in Louisville, Kentucky as well as Traverse City, Michigan. Before my move to Michigan, I served as the Director of Worship and Adjunct Instructor of Piano at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. I am very active in Diocesan activities, ordinations and confirmations, and also serve as the Music Director for the Kentwood Community Chorus.
I have a passion for theatre, and spend a lot of my spare time participating in local projects. (Old Town Playhouse, Lowell High School). In my younger days, I toured with two National Tours (The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady). I moved to Michigan in March, 2015, and in addition to my beautiful wife, Nancy, we have 3 teenagers, 3 cats, and 1 dog at home. We love to learn about this beautiful state, and I’ve even learned to use my hand as a map like the locals do. We look forward to exploring the lakeshore and spending a lot of time around Lake Michigan.
I look forward to all that God has in store for me here and pray that God will belss this parish with all good.
