The first catechists in any child’s life are the family members with whom he or she lives. What happens at home – both positive and negative – provides lessons for life. In the family, faith is shared as part of the unfolding of daily life. The home or “domestic church” provides a real place in which a child learns to live his or her faith as well as understanding it.
Our goal is to create a program of lifelong faith formation that is centered in and flows out of the events of Church life. It embraces all ages and generation, promotes faith growth at home and promotes participation in the life of the Church. Faith Formation classes will only be as helpful as the child allows it to be which is largely dictated by how much the faith is prioritized in the home.
Children’s Faith Formation (CFF) and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS)
Children in grades K-5 are invited to be registered, and those of that age in our parish who are not attending Catholic School are expected to be registered. These classes are designed to help your family's growth in the faith, especially your children, knowing that life as parents can be very busy and hectic. If you have questions about CFF/CGS, please call or email and I will happily give you my time.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) and nursery
We would love to add to our volunteer staff for these ministries. If you are interested in volunteering or have questions, please call or email. Nursery will not be taking place this year due to a lack of volunteers. CLOW takes place during the 11:00 Mass most every Sunday.
Are you wondering about the faith for you or your child? The Rite of Christian Initation for Adults/Children (RCIA/RCIC) is the process through which those interested in joining or coming into full communoin with the Catholic Church are welcomed into the Catholic family. If you or someone you know is interested or does not feel that they belong to any one church, contact me to learn more about what it means to be a part of the Catholic family.
This is a program in which the Sunday scripture readings are proclaimed and explained on a level appropriate to children in grades K-2 at the 11:00 Sunday Mass. Any child in this age group may participate ~ no registration necessary.
For those interested in having their children receive their first Holy Communion or first Reconciliation, please sign them up for Children's Faith Formation. Information/Registration folders can be found in the book stands located outside the Marian Chapel and by the main entrance in the vestibule. The registration form and all of the informatoin in the folder can be found above. If your child is not in the 2nd grade, please mention this in the registration form where relevant.
